Emma Gunn's show I am your host Emma gonna Wardner and in this episode I'm joined by someone who studies happiness for a living

Yes, you heard that right my guest on this episode is Mike Viking, the chief executive of the Happiness Research Institute in Copenhagen and his job is ultimately looking for ways to measure and define happiness.

In 2001, to give you a little bit of a backstory, in 2001 the UN

published a resolution which stated that, air quotes people, the pursuit of happiness is a fundamental human goal and in 2012 it released

its first world happiness report and that world happiness report took into account a number of factors

including health, family, job security, as well as social factors such as political freedom and government corruption and many other things.

The report has been published every year since and Denmark has topped the list four out of five times.

It was Denmark's, well this, yes, you're thinking, hang on Emma, there are six.

I think that that data is old, but let's put it that way.

Denmark has done very well, thank you very much.

Indeed, they have top the charts pretty much most of the time.

It was Denmark's high performance that prompted Mike, who is from Denmark

to take on the mantle of exploring the topic further and in 2013 the

Happiness Research Institute was founded. In the meantime Mike has also written two books

the Little Book of Hooger,

Hooger meaning cozy togetherness or coziness of the soul.

There's no way you could have missed Hooger in 2018.
