so much for joining us today. Just a day after Ford launched the F-150 lightning production last month, the company cut 580 salaried an agency jobs on its

U.S. engineering teams. The cuts came as Ford divide the self into two divisions, one that focuses on gasoline powered vehicles, the other that focuses on battery electric.

You can guess where the investments are being reduced and where they're being added.

What if I told you that this is the tip of the iceberg?

Right about the same time I heard that Ford News in late April,

a new report from McKinsey and Company came out and

predicted that by 2050, the global auto industry, which currently stands at

about 34 million employees strong will shed 13 million jobs.

That is one of the tumultuous consequences

of the shift to electric vehicles.

There are opportunities as well, of course, and I am joined today by Eric

Hanen, the co-author of that McKinsey report, to talk about the bumpy path ahead on

this transition to electric vehicles. We are also talking about the on this
