Director of Goodyear Ventures,

the Tire and Rubber Companies Venture Capital Fund.

Goodyear made a big splash at CES 2020

when it launched a $100 million fund. And that show kind of brings up one of my favorite

memories in my time covering mobility. Some of you know about my aviation background and interest there so

so probably no surprise that taking a ride on the Goodyear Blimp was a major

highlight. Not only because we flew over the Vegas Strip and the home of the Las Vegas Raiders that was then under construction.

But we had an adventurous bunch of passengers who who convinced the pilots to show us the

maximum pitch-up and pitch-down range of the blimp.

And I don't remember the specifics of what that range was and degrees,

but I can tell you that we descended so fast that the controllers at the North Las Vegas airport had called and asked what was wrong.

So that certainly brought smiles all around.

I have a picture on my desk that commemorates that flight in general, but I digress because the blimp was at the

show to help showcase the launch of Goodyear Ventures.

And a little more than two years later now, I've been wondering how that effort's been progressing and more big picture,

you know, what role does it play in helping a legacy company from the automotive world

transform itself for a new era of mobility.
