What exactly is your reputation?

It's what people say about you when you're not in the room.

So how do you build a reputation that not only precedes you but also

advocates for you? Helps you make connections, closed deals, makes business a

whole lot easier. Well that's what today's lesson is all about. I've been in business

for 20 years and I gotta tell you reputation is pretty much everything. It's a very

small world out there in business. Pretty much everybody knows everybody, which means your

reputation means more than how much money you make, what you've accomplished, or

any awards or accolades we might think are significant. Your reputation

is what represents you, so we've got to build a good one. Let's get into it. Let's get down to business.

I want to start by saying that your reputation is something that you really need to protect like some sort of fragile vase that's worth millions and millions of

dollars. Why? Because a crack in that vase we call reputation completely

devalues it. It can go from being worth millions to worth pennies.

As one of my favorite comedians, Dave Chappell has said,

you don't get infamous. You get infamous.

So, where do we start? How do we make sure our reputation helps us in our business even when we're not around?
