has passed away now for some of you younger listeners you may not know who this guy was

but he was a very successful director and also a great actor kind of loved by it seems

like just about everybody he worked with let's here's a little clip of him in

Dustin Hoffman in Tootsie a movie that he directed this is him acting with

Dustin Hoffman you play the tomato for 30 seconds they want to half a day

over schedule because you wouldn't sit down yes it wasn't logical you were a

tomato a tomato doesn't have logic and actually I have to say as great a

director as a Sydney Pollock was I liked him as an actor immensely and somebody

who I think shares that sentimental a little bit is our own film guy Tom Tagney

he is also doing by the way Tom great coverage of the Seattle International Film

first though Tom let's talk about Sydney Pollock I could not agree more with you

I as as good a director as he was and he was a very competent good Hollywood

director but he wasn't he wasn't my cup of tea I mean he didn't make he didn't

he didn't reach for this stars when he made movies but he made very good strong

you know professionally competent movies but I loved him as an actor he was an

absolute natural it seemed to me when he was on on camera he you know it's

one it's interesting thing about this guy is that he was so comfortable with

people that even somebody as bizarre and brilliant mind you as Stanley Kubrick
