In a world where the internet is killing the radio very slowly, one show fought against

the tide. That is two beautiful to live with Luke Burbank as the host, Jen Andrews as his

Facebook partner and John Dittori as the pants ever went next to. Two beautiful to live,

starts now. I had been living in New York and working there as an actor and director and

choreographer for 25 years or so and I really felt I needed a change. I imagined in my fantasy,

I suppose, that when I came here I would have a completely different life, perhaps a construction

worker or one of those guys that works on those high wire things that with a hard hat, you know,

that sweeping sort of hat and with the chaps. If I were in charge of programming a film festival,

I think it would just, the whole thing would be waiting for government. We would just show the movie,

the film every night, multiple times and I don't think we would leave very many people disappointed.

Apparently that's not how they do things, not at SIF anyway, which is of course one of the most

well-known and respected film festivals in North America. We're very proud that it happens right

here in Seattle and we're very happy to have Beth Barrett here, the programming manager to tell us

about this year's production. Hi, Beth. So this is the 35th year that we've been doing this. Did it

start out? Did SIF start out as a kind of, you know, people don't think like Los Angeles, New York,

Seattle. I mean, did it start out as a little kind of small time operation and it's just grown and

grown? Absolutely. It was, it's actually the 34th year that we've been doing us. Our founders were

very superstitious and we just skipped the 13th year. Went right from 12th to 14th. What's really

going to happen in an unlucky movie festival? The popcorns burned? Well, yeah, you can have a popcorn

burn. You can have, you know, missing reels, reels put on, you know. It's one thing if you're like

launching an ocean liner. I mean, that could sink. It seems like the superstage, like the possible bad

luck effects on a film festival are not that terrifying. They're pretty minimal, but these guys
