Galane Maxwell has opposed the DOJ's motion to publicly release grand jury transcripts

in the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein and Maxwell.

The Justice Department is aiming to quell public outrage over the Trump administration's reversal

to make the investigative files public.

The transcripts are testimony of two law enforcement officials who worked on the cases.

But Maxwell argued her legal interests outweigh the public's interest in the Epstein case.

CNN's Paula Reid has more.

And Maxwell's lawyer had previously signaled that they would oppose this, but here, in his

filing to the court a short time ago, they expanded on their reasoning, writing, quote,

Jeffrey Epstein is dead, Elaine Maxwell is not.

Whatever interest the public may have in Epstein, that interest cannot justify a broad intrusion

into grand jury secrecy in a case where the defendant is alive, her legal options are viable, and her due process rights remain.

Of course, they're referring to the fact that she is appealing for her case to the Supreme Court, but we're also hearing from victims.
