Hey, what's up guys? Welcome back to another episode of the epic gardening

0:03.7

podcast. My name's Kevin and today I'm going to do a bit of a free-form riff on

0:08.8

vertical hydroponics. So I did a live stream a couple days ago on my Instagram about my experiences growing in a tower garden and if you don't know what a tower garden is it's basically a fancy vertical hydroponic system that you grow in a vertical column and

0:26.7

water is pumped up through the middle of that column and then it drips back down into the reservoir

0:31.8

below.

0:33.0

So it's a single column system

0:35.2

and it has anywhere from 24 to 32 different grow zones

0:41.8

where you can grow a specific plant.

0:44.0

So if you wanted, you could grow 32 basal plants if you wanted to.

0:49.0

But that would be a bit of a waste.

0:52.0

So I kind of want to talk about my approach to growing

0:54.8

vertically in a hydroponic system so my approach is basically this I want to grow things

1:00.5

number one that I would eat makes no point to grow anything that I

1:04.0

wouldn't eat right second I want to grow things that have the highest value as

1:09.2

compared to buying them at the grocery store so things that jump off the top of my head right now are herbs.

1:15.0

Herbs are exceptionally expensive and they come in these stupid little plastic packages at

1:18.8

the grocery store, but if you grow them hydroponically, or really in in any way but hydroponically especially because they grow quickly

1:25.9

you're getting an incredible return so you can buy a couple

1:30.8

leaves of lettuce or a few branches of lettuce at a grocery store for

1:35.0

399 in a little plastic package or like me you can grow pounds of it in a

1:41.2

hydroponic system basically automatically month after month.

1:45.6

So which one makes the most sense to you?
