0:30.0	Hello, I'm Jacob Saints, I'm David Halverson, and welcome to a special story time edition of Unshaken for this week.
0:44.0	Now, we've been doing stories about Jesus since the beginning of the year,
0:47.0	but today we're going to be doing stories from Jesus, namely his parables, the parables of the kingdom.
0:53.0	Now, Jesus is famous for the stories that he told and for good reason.
0:58.0	They have stood the test of time. They have become classics of world literature, as well as of Scripture.
1:04.0	Because there is so much meaning behind the messages that he's teaching.
1:09.0	If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a parable is worth a thousand lessons.
1:13.0	And peeling off layer after layer of meaning is the point of the parables that he's teaching.
1:19.0	If we can grow up in God and receive a fullness of the Holy Ghost as we learn in DNC 109,
1:26.0	then hopefully we can grow into a greater understanding of the things that the Lord is teaching here.
1:30.0	If you think about President Thomas S. Monson, and how famous he was for his storytelling,
1:35.0	that there were times as a kid, I just loved his talks, because it was that, it was story time.
1:40.0	As I got older, I realized, oh, he's teaching truth there.
1:44.0	And what I thought was just a simple, you know, sit on the front porch with Grandpa Monson, so to speak,
1:50.0	no, this is a prophet of God explaining truth and teaching powerful principles.
1:55.0	One of the things that made Abraham Lincoln so popular among people was his home spun wisdom.
2:00.0	And rather than just bark out orders and say how things had to be, he would often spin a yarn.
