Hello, I'm Jacob Saints, I'm David Halverson, and welcome to a special story time edition of Unshaken for this week.

Now, we've been doing stories about Jesus since the beginning of the year,

but today we're going to be doing stories from Jesus, namely his parables, the parables of the kingdom.

Now, Jesus is famous for the stories that he told and for good reason.

They have stood the test of time. They have become classics of world literature, as well as of Scripture.

Because there is so much meaning behind the messages that he's teaching.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a parable is worth a thousand lessons.

And peeling off layer after layer of meaning is the point of the parables that he's teaching.

If we can grow up in God and receive a fullness of the Holy Ghost as we learn in DNC 109,

then hopefully we can grow into a greater understanding of the things that the Lord is teaching here.

If you think about President Thomas S. Monson, and how famous he was for his storytelling,

that there were times as a kid, I just loved his talks, because it was that, it was story time.

As I got older, I realized, oh, he's teaching truth there.

And what I thought was just a simple, you know, sit on the front porch with Grandpa Monson, so to speak,

no, this is a prophet of God explaining truth and teaching powerful principles.

One of the things that made Abraham Lincoln so popular among people was his home spun wisdom.

And rather than just bark out orders and say how things had to be, he would often spin a yarn.
