So there's a little backstory to this one. Matt Rutherford, of course, has been a friend of mine for a long time since long before he was famous for his around the America's sailing trip on his Alban Vega. And as you know, Matt's been on the podcast more than any other guest. And we always have something interesting to talk about. We only see each other about once a year now, but we stay in touch throughout the year on email, and it's really fun kind of seeing our careers sort of evolve in parallel

to each other. We recorded this episode on board my friend Rory and Kara's boat. It's a CS-36

called Libra, and we did it in Back Creek. Rory has been a friend of mine for a while as well,

has done some deliveries and some races with me. And he and his wife Kara bought this boat to go

off cruising on their own. And it was really cool. In Back Creek and Annapolis, the week after the

boat show, they were anchored in Back Creek as well as three or four other 30-something couples,

all of which have some relationship

to East Bjorn or personal friends of ours or now both, really. And it was really cool. We had a cookout

at Port Annapolis Marina on Friday night last week. Rory and Carrier were there. Nick and Sarah,

who had sailed with us on East Bjorn, Kai and Emily, who did a celestial class with me. Matt was there

with Nicole, my friend Ryan Finstead, and his wife, Catherine, who had also us on East Bjorn, Kai and Emily, who did a celestial class with me. Matt was there with Nicole, my friend Ryan Finstatt and his wife, Catherine, who had also sailed on East Bjorn with us. And it was just really neat to have a whole group of like-minded people of our age. And it's really inspiring. You know, you hear me talk about young people and sailing all the time on here. And we're finally starting to meet and find these people. And they are out there and

they're super inspiring. They're doing what we preach all the time, buying small, relatively

inexpensive boats and going cruising on their own. And we're sort of seeing like a new model of how

to do this. So I talk about this next week's episode with Lee and Rachel, but this model of not saving money and retiring and then going cruising, but actually taking sort of mini sabbaticals or using it as a way to reset your own career is we talk about that a lot in the next episode, but it applies today too with Matt and with us and with Rory and Kara.

And I don't know, I'm rambling a little bit

now but I'm just trying to inspire anybody out there that has a dream of going off and cruising
