the Uber Talent, former sub four-minute miler turned trail runner living in Boulder, Colorado. Matt just ran

and won the Gorge Waterfalls 50K, one of the most memorable race performances that I've seen in

person in my entire history in the sport. He was contemplating

dropping out at halfway being as much as 12 minutes off the lead before going on to win by more

than four minutes in a competitive field. It's truly an astounding anecdote from an athlete with

a really rich and deep story. We talk about Matt's lifetime commitment to the beautiful

sport of running. We talk about his military service and how that shaped him. We talk about his

recent return from long-term injury, the value of his training partners and the recent success of

the Boulder Boys. We talk about anxiety related to competition,
