Summary

Are you curious about what it takes to build a "mega boutique"? In today's episode, I’m excited to bring you a conversation with Leslie Hall, the founder of The ZigZag Stripe. Leslie's brand is a shining example of the term "mega boutique," a concept that's been buzzing in our industry for some time, and this is one business story that I have loved to watch over the years.

Listen as we dive deep into the intricacies of Leslie's business model, discuss the powerful brand recognition she's fostered, and explore how she's skillfully utilized a recognizable model to become the face of The ZigZag Stripe. We also take a look at the tight-knit community that Leslie has built around her brand, the efficiencies she lived and died by, and how she managed inventory during a big move.

Okay, have you ever heard the term mega boutique? I feel like that term was floating around our

0:04.6

industry for a while. I'm not even sure if people still use it. But if I was going to put anyone in

0:09.2

that category and say that, man, this is a business that I have loved to watch because they were

0:14.6

around from the very beginning. It's this one. Today, as a part of our 10-year anniversary

0:19.1

series here on the podcast, I am so excited to interview

0:22.8

Leslie Hall, the founder of the ZigZeg Stripe. Leslie is somebody who has built an incredible

0:29.6

online business with really intentional brand recognition. And today, we're going to deep dive and

0:36.4

reconstruct her entire business model,

0:38.9

but talk about the power of the brand recognition that she has built, someone with a really

0:43.7

recognizable model who is not her, who is not Leslie. She's not the face of the brand. And I think

0:49.6

this is really interesting how Leslie's put this together over such a period of time. Not only that,

0:55.2

but one of the things I admire about ZigZeg Stripe is how Leslie, from the very beginning,

1:00.4

really did build a community around her business. And if you guys have followed for any period of time,

1:05.1

you know what I think of community. It is absolutely everything in business. And when you go into

1:09.9

the ZigZeg Stripes wholesale,

1:11.6

or I'm sorry, not wholesale, but Facebook group for their business, you'll notice that there are

1:15.8

just as many posts in that group of customers talking about how they love the product and also

1:21.5

sharing selfies and building one another up and truly being such a positive space for one

1:26.5

another. There's just as many posts

1:28.4

about that as there are actually showing and selling products. That's a really, really incredible

1:34.2

achievement. So today I am so pumped. You're going to meet Leslie Hull, the founder of the ZigZeg

1:40.3

Stripe.
