The Trump administration is taking a new step towards mass firings across federal agencies.

Here's CNN's Renee Marsh. These are two different memos, two directives, with the goal, again, of shrinking this federal workforce

and ensuring that the people who do work at these agencies are loyal to Trump's policy agenda.

Now, the OPM today instructed agencies to submit list of agency divisions and employees

who are not considered essential during the government shutdown and also for divisions and

agencies that are considered essential, but they need to have a plan for

how to reduce the staff there.

In this second memo to agencies this week, it instructed them to begin the process of reclassifying

senior top career positions as politically appointed positions, positions that would be appointed

by the president.

Now to the final hostage handover in the first phase of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire deal.

An Israeli security official says the bodies of four Israeli hostages held in Gaza have been

transferred to the Red Cross by Hamas. Israel is now expected to release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in the

coming hours. The Israeli Prime Minister's office says the two sides reached an agreement today,

after saying over the weekend that Israel would delay the release of Palestinian prisoners

until Hamas stopped the quote degrading ceremonies involving captives. The truth officially ends on Saturday.
