We are seeing more and more couples open to counseling, which is amazing, but what many couples

who haven't taken the plunge of counseling yet, what they really want to know is, what will

counseling look like for me?

So let's start at the very beginning, Dr. Graham.

Is there anything you recommend a couple of do before seeing their counselor for the first time,

anything they should talk to each other about, tell the counselor about ahead of time. It's always nice when a couple thinks through things

a little bit ahead of time and kind of try to get on the same page of why are we coming,

what's going on, sometimes it's all obvious. Obviously it's been an affair or there's a porn addiction

or something like that. Then it's pretty easy to know what the problem to focus on.

But, you know, what do we want to do? I look at couples that just, you know, they feel like

they're just kind of dragging in their marriage. Okay, where would you want it to be? And so I think

if you can kind of think of give the count, the more information you're able to give the counselor,

the quicker he's going to be able to come up with something to try to help you. And if you don't, that's okay. I've got couples that come in and they just know that you're
