3:09.4 | And there's the CEO of United Airlines, Scott Kirby. And it's a message from Scott Kirby right there in the beginning. And he's standing there. He's looking up at the sky and he's in the forest. |
3:23.4 | So, okay, that's pretty cool. And here's what he says in part. |
3:27.4 | On my first day as United CEO nearly two years ago, I established an ambitious goal to lead United toward a carbon-free future. |
3:39.4 | That's the first sentence. That's not an easy feat when you consider that burning jet fuel is currently a core requirement of our business. |
3:47.4 | United word dedicated to redefining the future of air travel with sustainability at the forefront, not because it's easy, but because it's simply the right thing to do. Okay. |
3:59.4 | Anybody who's invested in United right now, pull your money out as fast as you can. |
4:07.4 | The job of a chief executive officer of a corporation is not to be woke. The job is to run the airline as best as he can run the airline. |
4:25.4 | And in the case of United and most of the airlines, that needs profitability. They've had a tough time because of the price of fuel and because of the pandemic and so forth. |
4:39.4 | And so the CEO doesn't even address this. This isn't the CEO's job. A carbon-free future. Now, let me be abundantly clear because words have meaning. |
4:54.4 | If we had a carbon-free future, we'd be dead. |
