Tell us more about why you decided to write the book. Well, I had been looking into the problem

of mass shootings for quite a while, starting about a decade ago. And I think, you know,

like so many people, I quickly grew weary of the same sort of

political debates and all the thoughts and prayers we hear after each terrible attack. And I just

had the feeling that, you know, there really has to be more that we can do about this. And if so,

what is it? And I was investigating a bunch of these

cases trying to understand them better when I started hearing about an intervention method

called behavioral threat assessment. And it turns out this work has been going on for quite a long

time. It was first developed in the late 1980s. And, you know, I was hearing that there are quite a few potential attacks that had been

stopped.

And so that really caught my attention, wanted to know more about what that was all about.
