Hey, what's going on everyone? Welcome back to the show. Today we have an interesting episode.

I'm going to talk about something that is a little different from the edible seed

starting, spring gardening stuff I've been talking about just to mix it up a little bit

and that would be the Marimo Moss balls this is a really popular Japanese

gardening project and I found this on one of my favorite Instagram accounts

I believe it's called Green Light Moss Gardens or something like that and it's this

guy who lives in Japan that builds these beautiful, beautiful moss-based terrariums.

And some of the things he features in there are these moss balls.

And so Marimo is a Japanese word that means ball algae, which is exactly what this is.

It is a moss ball.

It's a sort of a tangled ball of solid green algae, and it just looks really cool. It's a very unique look so I would

It's bringing a little bit of nature indoors, which, you know what, I want nature everywhere.

some micro-greens. I want marimo mossballs. So the botanic name for these is

Clatophora a gagrop I think I got it there, which explains why these are known as

Clatophora balls because that's their Latin name.

Mossball is actually an incorrect

botanical term because they are not really moss at all. They are actually algae.

So moss balls in their natural habitat, they'll grow to anywhere from 8 to 12 inches long.

So you can get a foot in diameter when it comes to one of these moss balls.
