guest Mark Goldberg and if you don't know who Mark is he wrote a tremendous book which we've reviewed and highly recommend.

It's called Beyond the Green Line. And Mark grew up in London, England.

He's of Jewish descent, so when he was 18 years old,

he left England, moved to Israel, a place he had never been, joined the Israeli paratroopers, and took part in the second

Intifada, and we're going to get into all that, before we do we want to welcome Mark to the

podcast and we're very grateful that he could make the time for us today so Mark

Yeah, and again, your book was fascinating because I have friends who have been to London.

I have friends of friends who are of Jewish descent in London were telling me a lot of the same stories that you had wrote about in your book and I found it hard to believe, well not hard to believe, but it is still kind of difficult to fathom that we still have the anti-Semitism that you would think that would have been eradicated from Europe after the Second World War, but you know, let's get into all this because I will you know our

listeners want to hear your story and tell us about growing up in London.

Well, before I start actually I should say that I had been to Israel before

before joining. Okay. Yeah, I had been I had been there for a you did, okay. Yeah, I had been there for a bit.

I've been there a few times.

But yeah, but I was in London, basically I grew up in London,

and London is, or the UK, I kind of felt growing up Jewish that the attitude was kind of like don't discuss like your difference, you know, don't don't be very different from everyone else. Keep it to yourself, you know, yeah, and kind of just don't don't kind of if you had something about you that's kind of different from the prevailing culture

you know it best not to express it is kind of the way I grew up
