the 1981 murder of a newborn baby is challenging the charges on the basis that police violated

her constitutional rights.

The Akron Beacon Journal reports that on Wednesday, March 11th, police arrested 57-year-old

Akron resident Daniel L. Rees for aggravated murder in connection with the 1991 slaying

of 23-year-old mother, Rachel Johnson.

Johnson's case had grown cold until developments in genetic genealogy produced critical new

information, leading Akron police to Rees.

Rachel Johnson was last seen alive at approximately 2am, March 30th, 1991, on North Hill in Akron.

A friend was driving her home from a bar but had to stop because of a flat tire.

Johnson was then seen getting out of her friend's car and getting into another car that had

pulled over.

A few hours later, a pastor by found her body in the Chapel Hill neighborhood.
