I just wanted to talk about Bob Harris because of his retirement this week.

Did you hear?

Yes, that's right. He's retired, hasn't he?

He made an announcement on Instagram and various whatever, and saying that he's stepping down

from Radio 2 to look after his health and, of course, we wish him well.

But, and I just wanted to sort of take stock a little bit of what he meant to us and how, actually, we wouldn't even be doing rock-ontours

if it wasn't for the old Grey Whistle Test.

That's absolutely right.

It's from that box set of DVDs that I brought on the tour bus on the first Source for the Secrets, European Tour.

2018.

Eight years ago.

That's a Beatles ago.

Which is now the standard unit of measurement of things in rock music is, you divide it by Beatles' careers.

Yeah.

Anyway, see, you know, just how important he was.

Well, because let's just tell people that we were watching that box set on the bus, weren't we? And we were chucking loads of facts at the TV. And then someone said, you two should get a podcast. Exactly. Well, it was also, it's that lovely thing of we're talking about this stuff. And then there's the other layer of, of, of course, Nick, who had all this incredible stuff to throw in as well, because obviously he'd been involved with a lot of the people who were on it and, you know, just that slightly bit of where we were all kids watching at home and this is the world he was already in, kind of, wasn't it? Yeah, yeah. I mean, you know, we had Bob on the show and he was fantastic. And if people want to go back and listen to that episode, we, you know, highly recommend it. Just to say how important he was to people of my age, you know, it was, he was the gatekeeper, wasn't he, to so much more interesting music than we'd ever been exposed to before. You know, we'd watched Top of the Pops avidly,

but something about that late-night theme tune

and the guy kicking the star in the animation at the beginning
