Welcome to the Boneyard with Steve Robertson. As always, I am your good friend and host Steve Robertson here on the Big Friday edition of the yard. Hope it's a payday for you. You may notice the sound quality is a little bit better today. I don't always record from the road, but I changed the setting. I had a few people that said, Steve, it sound like you were whispering trying to be respectful of the other hotel guest.

Well, that's not really the case. I mean, not that I'm a rude and boorish person, at least as far as you know, but I just didn't change a setting. So here we are. Hopefully this is better for you all. We're going to talk a little bit about what's happened the last couple of days. We'll preview what's ahead. Got a lot of hosting discussion to talk about.

It's not just for lot of the hosting discussion to talk about of course it's one of the reasons you come to hoover it's not just for uh for baseball and the free meals and things like that i'm not a homeless person though i do dress like one at times but um but anyway you like to get

to talk to other people that maybe have some information that you don't that you guys really

want to hear and so i your good friend and host has worked the sources extensively in person

I've talked to several people in a national college baseball media and I have respect for all of them like some more than others but one of the things that I want to say before we even get too deep into the show is

nobody in a national college baseball media is going to be picking who host who's the top

eight who makes the field they're all projecting based on the experience and information just like

all of us are now we respect them because they're doing a great job you know covering the game

but it's important to understand i remember back in 2021 and i'm not going to sit here and get into this whole big thing, right?

In 2021, after we went two in Q at Hoover, everybody in a college baseball media said,

state's not going to be a top eight national seat.

However, I went myself and did a resume by resume comparison posted it on

Jean's page and said yes not only will we would be a top eight it's really

not it's not even a question and lo and behold we were I went on the winning

an affle championship and I don't say that any way to praise myself it's just I think

it's important to do your own homework and not just trust what everybody else is telling you.

I'm not here to just collect opinions and then regurgitate them, right?

I like to find out what everybody else is thinking, what criteria they think the committee is going to emphasize this year.

And the thing that I go back to, and I don't know if we're going to host yet or not, I think that's still to be determined. There are some people that are very adamant that, yes, Mississippi State will host and some others that said they won't. So it's going to be a very, very close thing, for sure. But I think it's important to understand that as we work through this, the committee has introduced KPI in the quad system, and there's a reason

they do that, and yes, that's all kind of fueled by RPI.
