I was doing a movie at 16 with Flea, the bass player from the chili peppers.

And he kept telling me about his friend Anthony Kitas, who was in rehab.

And I was sort of like, oh, that sounds kind of exciting.

Like, I didn't really know how gnarly that really was.

And then I met Anthony and we started dating.

And then I just got swept up into sort of being with someone who was a drug addict which was

really intense and I felt very like super whatever codependent style like I just like folded my life

into just taking care of him very easily which is sort of a character trait I I was like, this is not good.

So Ione, you are a Hollywood icon.

My producer, Rebecca, cannot stop talking about you. She's like,

Ione Sky is a Jan X icon that Say Anything is like my favorite movie growing up. You're the star of Say Anything. You've been in a ton of different movies and TV shows over the year.

Your memoir recently published, Say Everything, was a New York Times bestseller.

And, you know, I'm really excited to have you on Rock Bottom because there's a lot of, you know, living in the public eye for so long and being, achieving such a high

degree of fame at such a young age, you know, you were just 17 when that movie was released.

I'm sure there's a lot to talk about.

You know, for me, one reason why I wanted to make this show was I navigated my own very public rock bottom in 2022

when the breakdown of my marriage and a workplace affair that I was part of,

became national news and was on SNL and was just a really chaotic, crazy situation.

I can only imagine that you have navigated similar tabloid type of interactions throughout your life.
