Every season I think it's smart to look back on what you tried, like what we are assumptions

0:18.4

going into this spring or this coming summer and then as a season ends you look back and

0:23.8

say okay well was I right or was I not right what things didn't work that I thought would

0:28.6

work and what things did work that I just randomly tried and didn't even think about and so

0:33.8

that's what Jacques and I are going to do in today's episode I think some things that I'm

0:38.4

thinking of just off the top of my head Jacques is adding a lot more structure to the garden

0:44.6

this season helped us out a lot and also specifically with the success that I had in the

0:51.5

garden in the Brasco world it's really just not trying to fudge the planting timings yeah so

0:58.5

last year I think I just thought oh you know I can get away with more than most people can because

1:02.8

zone 10 B and you know you're still in a season you're still in a climate and you just did better

1:08.9

when you planted it when you were supposed to planted including the garlic I mean we had some of the

1:13.0

best garlic harvest I've ever had certainly it's the best garlic harvest I've ever had in my life

1:18.0

and that was garlic that was planted in November last season we planted the garlic in early February

1:24.5

right harvested it in mid June so yeah it was way way way way later and the garlic formation was

1:30.7

better now I'm not saying that our sort of modification didn't work last year remember we put it

1:35.7

in the fridge for three months yeah planted in February that actually works really well

1:39.2

still got some heads for sure oh yeah we got some we actually got probably 40 50 heads of garlic

1:44.0

just that this time we got 250 and they're all really well formed the most part absolutely so

1:48.8

that's some of the stuff that I'm looking back at what about you in your garden some of my things

1:52.6

are a classic problem for me which is I let things sit for too long so in particular I had a really

1:59.2

wonderful success with Brasco's also this year in particular with cauliflower but I had some

2:04.4

cabbages that I knew we're starting a bolt and for some reason I just let them sit for way too long
