We have our cup of wine and it's our time to philosophize.

The centurians retired and their families have gone on a home from shopping.

It's coming summer. It's a little chilly today, but it is Northern

Europe. Rome doesn't worry us. And we have time to reflect upon events in the 21st century, but we're going to

begin with the 20th.

Germanicus has things to say about the inheritance of the Roman Empire, that would be the United States of America.

All the neoclassical language and architecture, deliberate imitation of Rome. That's fine because Rome imitated Greece and etc.

You find an inspiration and you stay with the theme. However, Germanicus is going to take us to a 20th century event that was remembered in the

course of these last days the landing on the Normandy in June of 1944 and the largest land battle from June of 44

until the end of August that the US ever participated in so far, A land battle involving the Germans and their allies on one side

and the US and its allies on the other side. Not unlike the contests we've seen in Europe ever since.

The US will have a side usually with the French and the British

and the British will be something like Germany and the Soviet boot. That was the 20th century. Here we are in the 21st century and we still have an

adversary relationship to some parts of Europe. However, the victors on June, in June of 1944 gathered on the beaches to remember 80 years later and

there were a few veterans. It is 80 years so if you a teenager, maybe you can be alive today.

At the same time, there were ironies not present, and I welcome Germanicus to reflect on

something he is in the past called a civil religion.

How did this event the 80th compared to I recall you and I talked when I was in Paris I believe for the 50th

anniversary maybe it was less than that I can't remember now exactly but in any event we've talked before and there have been
