Swatonia's published a book that survived.

Many books from our era have not yet been found.

I'm not saying they're lost.

I'm saying they haven't yet been found.

There are miracles ahead to discover what we left behind,

either in translation, through the Renaissance, or found in a pile of rubbish and discerned because they can penetrate even the burnt scrolls of Herculeanian.

However, Svetonius's 12 Caesars did survive. It's the story of Caesar to Domitian and all of the vagaries,

which Swatonius forgives in most instances, although he wasn't uniformly flattering of Augustus.

He is the number one guy. Caesar is the martyr, and Domitian was despised, even by Swithonius, although he hasn't published that book yet because it would be dangerous.

And she also writes, she's a classicist, a senior middle-aged lady with a great sense of humor.

And some foibles.

One of them is she doesn't like to omission.
