Back in December, three months ago, December of 2024, following President Biden's commutation of 37 federal

death sentences, one of his last acts as president.

The USCB, our American conference of Catholic bishops expressed gratitude and reiterated its longstanding

call for the abolition of the death penalty.

They've become liberals on this for the last two generations, if not three.

They emphasized the importance of building a culture of life and compassion.

Of course, the CDF, the congregation for the doctrine of the faith, had clarified as recently as 2004 under Cardinal Ratzinger, future Pope Benedict, that life issues only includes abortion and euthanasia does not include the

application of war or the death penalty.

These are not life issues, simplician.

Well, I was sitting in Latin Mass on Sunday in my nearest Latin mash parish

and God bless the

Louisiana bishop

who had kept that in place

was the

archdiocese of

New Orleans

and that I do want to express filial gratitude to most reverend Gregory Amon, Archbishop of New Orleans,

for keeping the Latin Mass in place.

But all of the bishops of Louisiana together had a letter read at Mass.
