0:51.8	questions in just one second. I do want to share one or two interesting things that I've been writing about in our clinicians'
0:59.4	newsletter that I think are worth to mention.
1:02.9	The first, and pardon me here while I adjust my sit-to-stand desk, so I get a good audio input.
1:11.9	The first comes from the American College of Gastroenterology.
1:16.6	It's a paper from 2014, so it's a little bit old, but what's novel about this paper,
1:21.7	what's important by this paper, is it provides the most up-to-date comparison for treatment effect between refaxamine and probiotics for IBS.
1:37.3	Now, they compare the effectiveness of these treatments through a measure known as number needed to treat, or NNT.
1:46.0	It's important for us all to keep in mind that we want to, in the research setting, convert I'm feeling better into
1:52.9	a numeric score so that we can compare between different studies the amplitude of I'm feeling better.
2:01.3	And that's in part what the number needed to treat is attempting to do.
2:05.9	Specifically, the number needed to treat is how many patients need to be given a therapy
2:11.6	before one of them will have the response.
