Summary

In today's episode, I am joined by mold expert, Doctor Jill Crista. She discusses some fascinating theories regarding what happens in mycotoxicity or this syndrome in which your body is inundated with not actually mold itself but the toxins that are produced by mold or fungus. She describes symptoms that help you determine if there's an increased likelihood that you may have been, or currently are, being exposed to mycotoxins. Lastly, she outlines some helpful testing and treatment strategies. I’m already looking forward to a Part II. https://drruscio.com/?p=56096

interesting, if I'm being fully honest.

1:21.9

She lays out some symptoms that helps one to determine if there's an increased likelihood that they may have been

or currently are being exposed to mycotoxins. She goes through some history findings, things

1:38.0

that may have happened to you, places where you may have lived, that could increase your risk.

1:43.2

Both the symptom delineation and the history are important because, like many,

1:47.2

a thing in healthcare, one root cause can manifest as a litany of different overlapping

1:53.7

symptoms with other causes.

1:55.2

And so it's very difficult sometimes to determine what causative factor might be most indicated for you to pursue.

2:04.5

She also outlines some helpful testing and some helpful treatment strategies.

2:11.7

And I was interested to hear that she feels most mold or mycotoxin patients have to go beyond just using

2:21.8

binding agents to pull out these toxins, but also co-administer antifungal agents, which will actually

2:31.0

stop the production of these mycotoxins to begin with.
