Okay, chapter 11 verse one. Now for something completely different.

Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron saying, speak to the children of Israel saying, these are the animals you may eat among all the animals on the earth.

Okay.

Two important things right there at the beginning.

So speak to the children of Israel. Literally says the sons of Israel, meaning the tribes.

But speak to the Israelites.

So these commandments are directed to the Israelites. They are not

directed to non-Israelites. You will not find anywhere in the Old Testament or the New Testament,

for that matter, that says Greeks should not eat pork, or owls, nighthawks, or sparrows, for that

matter. These are commandments for Israel.

They are always for Israel.

We're going to see as we keep going through Leviticus, that's not always going to be the case.

Some sections of commandments are going to say, say to the sons of Israel.

Some of them are going to say, say to the sons of Israel,

into the stranger who dwells in the land,

who dwells among the people, the foreigner.

Chapter 18, the laws about sexual immorality is going to be a good example of that.

Those are commandments for everyone.

Those are commandments for the whole earth.
