First, let's settle in together with the sound of the bells. So I do believe that sometimes the most compassionate thing you can do for a person is to let them struggle.

If you think back to your own life and where your greatest

learnings have come from, chances are they were during or after periods of intense difficulty and pain.

I know for myself when I look at a lot of the inflection points in my life or where something turned greatly for the positive.

It usually was preceded by very intense periods of uncertainty,

discomfort, regret, and just overall pain.

Now imagine someone coming by in the middle of that process for you during those experiences and just making it all better,

giving you the solution, taking you out of the pain, making the circumstance such that there's no more suffering.

Would you have had the same learnings?

Would you have had the same growth?

And would you be who you are today?

This is a tough one.

I'm not going to argue that this is black or white,

like all things in life, especially as it relates to growth, there are a lot of nuances here.

And I'm sure you might also be able to think about experiences in your life that were greatly

painful that you wish you could have reduced, shrunk or gotten rid of entirely.
