Well, howdy there, Internet people, it's Bell again.

So today, we're going to talk about Trump's affordability pitch, falling flatter than job growth.

Trump is pulling out all of the stops to try to stake out some form of narrative about the economy.

But for Americans who are paying even the slightest bit of attention, it's ringing hollow. Trump was literally at a McDonald's event

when he proclaimed, quote, you know, I just might add, this is also the golden age of America, because we are doing

better than we've ever done as a country. Prices are coming down and all of that stuff.

When the golden age has the golden arches bringing back the extra value meals to try to get consumers who can't spend as much.

Maybe the messaging is a bit off. When inflation is cruising about 50% above target and has been

trending up since April, it might not be the moment to try to tell the American people that affordability is a Trump

administration strong point. That's especially true when even the Maga Faithful, who believed

the tariffs weren't going to raise prices, had to watch and delete social media posts as the

administration reversed its signature tariffs

in an attempt to get prices to go down. You don't have to be a world-class economist

to understand that if Trump removing tariffs can get prices down, Trump adding the tariffs to

everything under the sun in the first place

probably had something to do with the slow but persistent increase in inflation and prices going up.

Meanwhile, because of Trump's one big beautiful bill ignoring working class Americans while handing out tax breaks to the wealthy.

Millions of Americans are facing sticker shock over their rising health insurance costs.

And there are enough grumblings from Republicans in Congress about the failure to extend the Affordable

Care Act tax credits. So he'll probably have to

reverse course on that too. I wonder if they'll remind everybody that the Democratic Party

has been saying this will happen since the first days of discussion about the one big beautiful
