Well, howdy there, internet people it spell again.

So today, we're going to talk about Trump planning to double down on tariffs, even if SCOTUS strikes them down.

At this point, the only thing showing more signs of distress than the average person's economy are Trump's approval

ratings, and there's probably a connection there. But Trump shows no signs of admitting he's

wrong about the economy, or acknowledging that the uncertainty caused by his tariffs are dragging down

the economic engines of the country.

To the contrary, he's got Treasury Secretary and soybean farmer Scott Bessent out there promising

to continue the tariffs, even if the Supreme Court strikes them down. How could they do that? Are they just going to ignore the

courts? Eh, not really. On Wednesday, Bessett referenced the 1962 Trade Act. That act is far more

robust than the law Trump actually used to institute his tariff plan.

Citing sections of the law, Bessence said, quote,

We can recreate the exact tariff structure with 301, with 232, with 122.

I think he got carried away, or maybe they still haven't figured out what they're going to use,

because Section 122 isn't like the other two.

It has limitations on how long the tariffs can be imposed, and it's pretty short, less than six months.

So, to be clear, even though his tariffs are unpopular, and economic

indicators suggest it's truly hurting the American economy and people, and even though

the Supreme Court might give him an easy out, where he doesn't have to admit he's wrong and that he hurt the economy.

He apparently plans on doubling down and reinstituting them.

It's like he's trying to make Republicans lose the midterms.

Any politically savvy person would take the out, say that it would have worked, and he would

have got away with making America great and bringing back jobs or whatever.
