dividend, Trump, and math. The suggestion was put forward to Musk about returning the savings

Doge fines to the people via a tax refund. The proposal said that they'd return 20% of the savings to the people.

Elon replied to the suggestion by saying he'd discuss it with Trump. People got excited.

Word spread on social media of $5,000 tax checks. Some people talked about what they would do

with their $5,000. It was a neat little moment shared

by Trump supporters. But like most daydreams, reality comes crashing in eventually. In today's

daydream, I'll be playing the role of reality. So, where did the $5,000 number come from? It came from taking 20% of the anticipated

doge savings and dividing that by the roughly 79 million taxpaying households. What is the

anticipated doge savings in this formula? $2 trillion.

But Congress has already said that $2 trillion number isn't happening.

What are the savings Doge can actually claim at this point?

About $55 billion in claimed savings.

Keep in mind, this includes some of the things that won't actually be savings

in the long term. Some of them have prompted legal battles that will probably cost more than the

potential savings themselves. And many of the firings will cause productivity issues, which will cost

more in the long run.

And a lot of the reduction in soft power will lead to much more expensive hard power situations

later and so on. It's unclear whether these claimed savings include Elon discovering the

150-year-olds on Social Security. I'm also not sure if they've

realized yet that they didn't discover massive fraud, but instead discovered an old programming

language that led them to believe there were 150-year-olds on Social Security. Just as a really
