Well, howdy there, Internet people, it's Bell again.

So today, we're going to talk about Musk not working for Doge, and what that means for Trump in the long term.

If you missed it, in an affidavit, Office of Administration Director Joshua Fisher wrote, quote,

In his role as senior

advisor to the president mr. Musk has no greater authority than other senior

White House advisors like other senior White House advisors mr. Musk has no actual

or formal authority to make government decisions himself. Mr. Musk can only advise the

president and communicate the president's directives. I know. I know. Trump said the opposite when he said,

quote, I am pleased to announce that the great Elon Musk, working in conjunction

with American patriot Vivek Ramoswamy, will lead the Department of Government Efficiency. Only one of

those statements was under oath, though. So, why are they saying Musk isn't running Doge when the appearance is very much the opposite?

Because of a lawsuit in which Trump is alleged to have been, quote,

delegated virtually unchecked authority to Mr. Musk without proper legal authorization from Congress.

There's also the question of what Doge itself is as the administration tries to avoid calling

Doge an agency. On Valentine's Day, U.S. District Judge John Bates wrote, quote,

This appears to come from a desire to escape the obligations that accompany agencyhood,

such as being subject to the Freedom of Information Act, the Privacy Act, and the Administrative Procedures Act, while reaping only its

benefits. Judge Tuckin described it as, quote, this is essentially a private citizen, directing an

organization that's not a federal agency, to have access to the entire workings of the federal government.

Fire, hire, slash contract, terminate programs, all without apparently any congressional oversight.

So, all of this seems to be an effort to avoid oversight by Congress, which is currently controlled by Trump's party.

But Trump is painting himself into a corner and may not realize it yet.
