This story starts back in January when an ice agent claimed that two Venezuelan immigrants,

with a broom and a snow shovel. Because he was being attacked, he said he fired at them.

Then this weird thing happened. The Department of Justice dropped the charges against the pair,

and then the acting director of vice indicated that

agents may have made false statements. He said, quote, video evidence has revealed that sworn testimony

provided by two separate officers appears to have made untruthful statements. Basically, the prosecutors watched surveillance

footage and the events didn't line up with the events described by ICE. Minnesota prosecutors

have reportedly charged U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Christian J. Castro,

with four counts of second-degree assault and one count of falsely reporting a crime.

On Monday, Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said, quote,

A violent crime did occur that night, but it was Mr. Castro who committed it.

He shot through the door of a home with many people, including children inside,

while fortunately missing several others.

At time of recording, Castro is not currently in custody, and while a nationwide arrest warrant

has been issued, the county says they don't know where he is yet. The county attorney also said

that, quote, Mr. Castro is an ICE agent, but his federal badge does not make him immune from state charges for his criminal conduct in Minnesota.
