Well, howdy there, internet people it spell again. So today, we're going to talk about the

Senate advancing a war powers resolution. In a breakthrough moment, that could be the turning

point in congressional Republican apathy toward Trump's failing war, failing economy,

and the strain both are putting on the working class. The Senate advanced a war powers resolution

motion. This moving forward is a step to bringing Democratic Senator Tim Kane of Virginia's resolution to the floor.

That would direct the president to, quote,

remove the United States Armed Forces from hostilities within or against Iran,

unless explicitly authorized by a declaration of war, a specific authorization for use of military force.

The vote was 50 to 47.

Four Republican senators, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Rand Paul of Kentucky, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, and Susan Collins of Maine,

cross the aisle to vote with all Democrats, except Federman, to start the process of ending Trump's

elective war. Perhaps just as critically, three Republican senators, Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, Tom Tillis of

North Carolina, and John Cornyn of Texas, didn't vote. That threw things in favor of Democrats.

It's worth noting that nobody really expected Senator Cassidy to change his vote.

Cassidy just lost his primary for re-nomination after Trump pushed against him.

I'm just saying, you'd be forgiven for thinking there might be a personal motivation here too.

He voted against every attempt to advance the resolution before he lost his primary.

While you might think it's personal, Cassidy said, quote,

In Louisiana, I've heard from people, including President Trump supporters, who are concerned

about this war, until the administration provides clarity, no congressional authorization or extension

can be justified.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer took a victory lap.
