Well, howdy there, Internet people, it's Bell again.

So today, we're going to talk about the House GOP budget problems.

With everything going on involving the tariffs, foreign policy blunders, and personal issues within the federal government,

it's easy to forget.

The Republicans still haven't worked out the first step in the

budget reconciliation process. Even after their closed-door meeting, they didn't come up with a real

plan. They had a rough sketch, concepts of a plan, if you will. Well, now those concepts are being

called into question by fiscal hawks on the Budget Committee.

The rumor mill says that the holdouts on the committee want a trillion dollars in cuts per year.

As we've discussed at length, that's a good meme number, but it's easier to say than to achieve.

Getting to that number requires looking at Medicaid,

SNAP, maybe even Medicare and Social Security. The current concepts of a plan sketch

has about $300 billion in spending cuts, which is actually an accomplishment Republicans could

have been proud of had they not overpromised.

The problem is that, as we've also discussed at length, Trump's promise to cut the deficit and

debt is at odds with his policies, which require additional spending. The sketch does have

$300 billion in cuts, but also has more than $300 billion in additional

spending for defense and deportation operations. Obviously, those who promised cuts don't like

the idea of coming out spending more. But again, they have to choose. They can't spend more to fulfill Trump's policy

promises and spend less to fulfill their debt cut promises. This is especially true when Republicans

in the House have leaned in to the one big beautiful bill idea. It's worth noting that the Senate
