Phoenix hit 102 degrees Fahrenheit on May 27th.

It has hit at least 100 degrees every day since.

The last time there was a streak of triple digit days

this long was never, not anywhere on record.

The closest you get is 1993, with 76 days.

Last year was 66 days. There is no expectation of the current trend breaking anytime soon.

Obviously, this level of heat for extended periods is dangerous.

Last year there were 645 heat related deaths in Phoenix.

This year is on track to be as high. The examiner has hundreds of cases being investigated.

Due to changes in our climate, we can expect more and more

of these extended periods of high temperatures

in different areas around the country.
