Part of what, you know, we do here is engineering. We're builders. I talk about pyramids,

black Wall Street. In my mind, I see systems. In my mind, I see cornerstones and foundations and things that we can build on.

When I started the show back in October officially of 2014, the goal was we had a five-year plan of what we wanted to get done.

And one of them was to create safe havens in this country for people from the global majority. Now, we've had a lot of,

you know, things happened that I didn't expect like Trump being president, which has forced us

back to the drawing board, but pretty much we're on mission. So earlier and after I came back from

the voter registration drive, I saw this gentleman. He was hanging around the hallways,

working with another show that's on Sunday. And we got to talk. And I don't even know how we got to

talking. But I was saying, you know, part of the thing I wanted to do, you know, I teach journalism

at Hunter College. Before that, I taught at NYU. And I love the truth. You know, I love going out and uncovering the truth and getting

the next question, the next question, and next question. And that's also foundational. And I said,

you know, it's really hard preparing for a show when the majority of the outlets are not driven by

facts. They're driven by clicks and eyeballs and algorithms. They're not driven by putting out the most pure truth that they can put out. And I want to be able to click on a story and know in the first graph, who, what, when, where, why, and how. And I was saying this to this gentleman that I'm frustrated. And the black outlets, it's even worse because now I got to sift through the snarky headlines and the clickbait to get to the story. I just want to know what happened. That's it. And he said, I can do that for you. Now, I had in my mind no way of doing this. And I didn't believe them, quite frankly, because, you know, most people lie. They do. A lot of people lie about what they can do. When they say something, it just has never panned out.

That's been my experience.

So I was like, I have nothing to lose. I'm not doing it now anyway. I don't really have the bandwidth. I said, so if you can do it, I'll provide the content. He said, give me three weeks. In two weeks, he said, click on this. and I was like, oh, a lot of cats and dogs,

but the website bones were there

the skeleton was there and i was like okay this guy is telling the truth but then as i peel back the

layer i'm gonna introduce you in a second sir don't you worry i'm pulling back the layers to this

onion and i realize that i've come into the midst of a really unique intellect.

Somebody who has a similar vision and mission and is using technology to deliver that.

And I'm saying, I'd have met my damn yin-yang here.
