I'm Mary Meckley and here you are doing one of the best things you could possibly do for yourself as you get ready to meditate.

And in today's episode we continue with our meditation techniques to help you sleep better at night.

One of the best ways to reduce stress in your life is to get a good night's rest.

And so in today's episode I'm going to share with you a meditation technique that none other than the Dalai Lama is reported to do

before he goes to bed at night.

This is a technique I've shared with you in the past.

So if you're a regular listener,

you will be familiar with this technique.

And what you do as you sit down to meditate is you review your day in reverse.

So you will start with this present moment now and go back over the events of your day. Not every single event that happened, of

course, but the major events that stand out from the day.

So if you had a very exciting day, know that that excitement can keep you awake just as much as any upsetting or stressful event that may have happened

during the day. So whether your emotions are exciting

and happy throughout the day or upsetting,

they both take you away from your center of feeling an inner state of calmness. So when you go through

your day, notice a few of the more significant events going through your day again in

reverse and then notice the emotion that you felt when you were experiencing that event or that situation.

This will help you lay your fears and your cares and the stress of the day to rest.
