Summary

This is a time for Christians to know what they believe and why. Such confidence only grows out of a personal study of God's Word. Today we find the power of Bible study both in our own lives and the lives of those around us.

The Bible is a living book.

As we begin to live in the Bible each day, we find that the Bible begins to live in us.

Doctrine is not a dirty word. Occasionally, I hear some church announced, come to our church.

We don't talk about doctrine.

We talk about real life things.

And I think, what a foolish thing to say.

Because doctrine is real life.

The word doctrine literally means our beliefs and teachings.

Why would you go to a church that didn't believe or teach anything? That's why I go.

Well, doctrine is not just found at the church house, it's to be found at our house.

Doctrine is not just what your preacher may give on Sunday.

Doctrine is to be something that connects to you every day of your life.

We're in 1 Timothy chapter 4 and verse number 13 where Paul says,

till I come, give attendance or pay attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

Now we've talked about giving attention to the Word of God. Now that begins of course with

simply reading the Bible. That's so simple. And yet it's often neglected. I hope you've read the

word of God today. And if you haven't, I hope you'll sometime today set aside a time and a place,

open the Word of God, ask the Lord to speak to you and just read

the Bible you may read it out loud that may help you to concentrate pay attention but read the

word of God and allow the Lord the opportunity to speak to your heart then he goes beyond that

not only should the word of God be read it should be preached and it should be taught,
