If I say the word meditate, what comes to your mind? You know, it's very unfortunate that sometimes

terms take on a meaning that are really not accurate. And in our world today, the word meditate

immediately conjures up ideas of some fellow sitting cross-legged on a rug, making some chanting noise, and trying to

empty his mind. But in scripture, meditation is not that at all. That's manward meditation.

That's new age. What I'm talking about is a Godward meditation that is eternal. This is

eternal truth. You see, manward

meditation says empty your mind. Godward meditation is the exact opposite. It says fill your mind.

Most of us don't have too much trouble emptying our minds. It's the filling our minds that we seem

to have a challenge with, or at least filling our minds with the right

thing and we're talking about giving attention to the word of God right now we've

been in 1 Timothy chapter 4 verse 12 where Paul wrote till I come give attendance or

pay attention to reading to exhortation to doctrine it's a powerful little

verse well the verse, but the theme continues

in the verses that follow. In other words, we're not only to read the scriptures and listen to the

scriptures as they're being preached and taught, and then study the scriptures to know doctrine,

to be ready to give an answer, to know what we believe and why, but we're

to go even deeper than that. Listen to the rest of the verses. Verse 14 says, neglect not the gift

that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

And here's the word, meditate. Meditate upon these things. Give thyself wholly to them that thy profiting may appear to all
