I want to deal with something today that I think is rarely discussed, but very, very needful.

We're in 1 Timothy chapter 4. We're talking about giving our attention to the Bible, to the Word of God.

And we've learned the importance of concentrating on scripture and beginning with just simply reading the Bible.

Paul said to Timothy in 1 Timothy chapter 4 verse 13, till I come give attendance to reading.

Then he said a second thing. He says, till I come, give attendance to reading to exhortation.

Now we're going further than simply the reading of

scriptures. Without a doubt in the context of this passage, Paul is saying to Timothy, you need to read

the Bible and you need to read the Bible to the people. But then he says not only do we need the

reading of scripture, we need exhortation from the word of god what is

exhortation exhortation is what i'm doing right now it is the teaching of scripture it's what

your pastor does on the lord's day it is the preaching of the bible it's exhortation now remember

timothy is a preacher so he's saying to him you need to be exhorting the people from the Word.

People need this.

But let's turn that around in application.

You may not be the preacher, but you need preaching.

I would say to you, I am a preacher and I need preaching.

I need to hear the Word of God.

I need my soul ministered to.
