Summary

Be guided as you ground yourself when managing difficult life challenges.

Meet Abie, your fellow meditator who has been following along with the meditations for more than 7 years. The theme he selected for you this week is Be Less Critical. You're guided in meditations to help you focus on the positive aspects of yourself and others. In each day's episode, you're guided, as always, with insight into the week's theme followed by a guided meditation.

This is part 5 of a 7-Part Series Be Less Critical Meditations, Episodes 2924-2930.

THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE:

Select someone to compliment each day. For extra bonus points, graciously accept when others compliment you.

A DIFFERENT MEDITATION TECHNIQUE EVERY DAY FOCUSED ON A WEEKLY THEME:

You are guided with a different meditation technique every day that is customized for the week's theme. Weave the techniques into the most stressful times of your day to manage difficult emotions. The meditation techniques help to calm the "monkey mind," when your thoughts continuously interrupt your meditation.

Hello, how are you today? I hope you are doing well. I noticed on my statistics,

0:06.5

when I look at the podcast stats, that many of you meditate in the evening, and so it may be

0:15.2

the end of a day for you. I'm Mary Mechley, and this is episode 2935 of the Daily Meditation Podcast.

0:27.2

We are at day five of a series we're exploring this week, and this is a series brought to you by

0:34.3

a fellow meditator, AB Wilder, and AB lives in Israel. He's been a long time meditator. He meditates

0:45.9

on the SIP and OM meditation app. You can always try out the app for an entire week free.

0:55.2

It's accessed in nearly 3,000 guided meditations, and each series contains a journal to take

1:03.5

you deeper into the week's theme, as well as a guide with all the techniques from the week on the

1:10.3

guide for you. And I want to mention that AB had a very special challenge for you this week. Every

1:20.6

week we issue a challenge that goes along with the week's theme, and this is a way for you to have

1:26.7

a little fun with the theme, and maybe to put yourself out there a little more beyond your comfort

1:34.8

zone. The theme this week is to be less critical of yourself, and the challenge AB selected for you

1:47.2

is to think of one person, and to give this person a compliment every day, from here on out,

1:56.5

give this person a compliment, maybe give this person a compliment every day for one week or two weeks,

2:04.3

and notice how that makes the person feel, and how it makes you feel. And of course this will be a

2:12.6

sincere, genuine expression of appreciation towards the person. You may surprise yourself

2:21.2

by how good it makes you feel to do this. And so I want to share a little insight with you as I

2:29.2

always do, and then you'll be settled down into your meditation. I want to share with you

2:38.1

the notion of soothing yourself. I've mentioned this to you earlier in the series,

2:46.4

how one way that people who are considered to move beyond life challenges more easily than others

2:59.7

is that these people have a way to soothe themselves, meaning that maybe it was something they

3:09.6

learned when they were younger or growing up, and yeah, that may put them at an advantage.
