writer, and actor.

A 39-year-old who most people knew over the last few years for his hilarious

portrayal of computer programmer Dinesh Shook Ty on HBO's acclaimed comedy series Silicon

Valley, but who they got to know in a whole different way this past summer following

the release of the Big Sick, a dramedy film that he and his wife Emily V Gordon co-wrote

and in which he stars about a crazy time in their life a decade ago.

And a film I might add that has gross more than $50 million worldwide and is the second best reviewed

release of 2017 so far, the very funny, Kumail Nandjani. But first, as we do every week, we're going to take a look

back at the last week in the race to the Oscars. And for that, this week, I'm very pleased to

42nd Edition one of the big three fall

film fest along with Venice and Telluride. So obviously we want to focus on that. First, we're talking

on Sunday, only four days into this 11 day fest but usually by this point

The the big guns have already shown their hands and in past years that's included a lot of the movies that have gone on to win Best Picture.

Have we seen such a movie already this festival?

Well I'll ask you if you've seen it because I've only seen a certain amount of them but you know

one thing that has struck me this year is there isn't

that overwhelming buzz for one movie I mean if we if we look back to last year

even I remember walking around everyone was talking about Lala Land, they were talking
