Summary
The fitness industry is a multi-billion dollar industry and it's no surprise that some companies and individuals will try to scam people out of their money. Some common marketing scams include:
- False claims of rapid weight loss or muscle gain: Many supplements and workout programs claim to produce quick and drastic results, but these claims are often false and not backed by scientific evidence.
- Guaranteed results in X number of days. Or lose a set amount of pounds in a set time frame.
- misleading claims such as backed by clinical evidence. When reality, there's very little evidence to support, said claim.
We discussed what to look out for, as well as a few funny and quite outlandish marketing advertisements we've seen this year.
We also discussed mind muscle connection, and the "starvation mode" theory, in the beginning of the podcast.

| 0:06.2 | On today's episode, me and Michelle discussed actually my post from the other day, which talked about |
| 0:13.3 | that you're probably not gaining weight or overweight from starvation mode. |
| 0:18.0 | It's probably because you eat too many damn calories. |
| 0:20.1 | So we actually talked about that for like 18 minutes. It wasn't really the original plan. But, and a part of me |
| 0:24.7 | feels like that's where the bulk of the value came. Was that conversation? But we talked about |
| 0:29.4 | some marketing scams and what to look out for. So this is important because your, |
| 0:34.4 | your Instagram feed is flooded. Now, we gave some really outlandish ones that are so |
| 0:38.7 | obviously stupid that most people who even have a common, like just a little bit of common |
| 0:44.4 | sense when it comes to health and fitness would not buy. But unfortunately, what they're, |
| 0:48.2 | they're not targeting you. They're targeting somebody sitting at home on their couch that knows |
| 0:53.4 | nothing about health and fitness that is quite frankly lazy and wants a quick fix. |
| 0:57.5 | So we gave some of those examples and we gave you keywords to look out for to not buy, |
| 1:03.4 | or I'm sorry, to be very weary of buying and hopefully you can jot these down because |
| 1:09.1 | there are some that are very sneaky. |
| 1:11.8 | We gave an example of a testosterone boosting supplement that say the word clinically proven. |
| 1:17.6 | And if you actually dive into the clinical studies, what you will see is they cherry pick one study that very minutely increased testosterone. |
| 1:26.6 | And then they just kind of ignore the other |
| 1:29.4 | hundred that said that this ingredient or this product basically did nothing. And so they're very |
| 1:36.4 | sneaky out there. And that's more what I want you to pay attention to. Do your research, |
| 1:41.8 | go into Google and start researching and actually looking and read reviews, |
