Summary

I was joined by Dr. Jennifer Singh on today's show to discuss what to look for when choosing a doctor. Jennifer is actually a listener to the show and heard Michelle and me discussing red flags in doctors and wrote me expressing she felt she could provide some value to the show. She absolutely delivered on that promise. She gave tactical tips for choosing the right doctor for you and a little more in-depth knowledge about medical professionals that might help you deploy a little more empathy for them. Enjoy the show!

Jennifer actually hit me up on an email.

So I get probably, I don't, I'm going to throw out a number 30 or 40 emails a week, usually from services that are trying to get their, you know, client on podcast,

0:22.9

right? So you can hire these services and they blast a bunch of shows that do well and trend

0:26.6

well on the iTunes charts. And, um, but I get probably 30 or 40 emails like, hey, so-and-so

0:32.9

would be a great guest for your show. And, um, and then I get some that are from the actual person. But Jennifer's,

0:39.3

I don't even remember what the title was, but it stuck out to me. So I clicked on it and I read it.

0:43.6

And she, she's clearly an avid listener of the show. She said, hey, you and Michelle were chatting.

0:50.0

You were chatting about her bad experience at the doctor. And I feel like I could provide a lot of value in that area because I'm a doctor myself,

0:59.1

have been for 25 years and recently just kind of broke off.

1:02.0

And I'm doing more lifestyle medicine and working in the health and fitness space.

1:07.5

And so, and just the way she worded it all, she put on a very good, she wrote a very good presentation almost of why I should have her on the show.

1:21.8

And I wrote her back and I said, now that's how you get on a show.

1:24.8

And so I was, I was stoked to have her on. And, you know, what we talked

1:30.1

about was, you know, being a medical professional herself, you know, how do you get, how to get

1:39.6

what you need from your doctor, just like the title says, right? And we dig over some red flags, but she gave

1:46.2

a little more background on why the medical system is the way it is, why you wait 20 minutes to only

1:51.4

see your doctor for two. And some of the inherent flaws with that, some of the challenges

1:56.0

traditional medical doctors are up against because the system is not built for them to really

2:01.6

spend a lot of time with you. So it did help me even have a little more empathy and even kind of

2:07.0

this notion of doctors must be getting massive kickbacks and that's why they push medicine
