Hello savvy painters this episode was recorded live in the savvy painter community.

For the past few months every Monday I've been hopping on live in the savvy painter

community and doing some live streaming there which also goes out to the savvy painter Facebook page.

And I thought it would be really good to just go ahead and share what I talked about

this past Monday because I think it's really important.

A lot of times we are not really clear on what we actually want in our practice.

It's strange really, we think it's obvious, but there are subtle nuances that are important to pay attention to.

And understanding these nuances will guide you to an art practice that is unique and meaningful to your particular

tastes and to your particular life. We don't live in an art vacuum. We have

multifaceted lives and understanding and owning those facets will allow you to create a practice that honors and includes all parts of you.

So a few episodes back in episode 253, way back on New Year's Day, I think that was creating from a place of love. I mentioned how important it is to create from a place of love, a love for the art and a love for the artist who creates it.

In a way, this episode is kind of a continuation of that thought. Having clarity about what you want

empowers you and it focuses you on what matters most. So I actually had a

different episode that I was going to publish today on saying no to the things that get in the way of your art and understanding how to do that with grace. But as I was giving this talk today in the community, I

realized that you have to understand what you want before you say no. So I'm

going to hang on to that episode until next week

and I'm going to share this talk with you today

because I think it's really important

and I don't want you to miss it.
