The suspect accused of killing political influencer Charlie Kirk at an event in Utah Valley University Wednesday is in custody.

22-year-old Tyler Robinson is being held without bail in Utah County Jail.

He's being held on several initial charges, including aggravated

murder, felony discharge of a firearm, and obstruction of justice, but hasn't been formally

charged. Utah's governor Spencer Cox says Robinson was taken into custody last night after

a family member reached out to a friend and told law enforcement, quote,

that Robinson had confessed to them or implied he had committed the incident. Cox says

Robinson wasn't a student at UVU and is believed to have acted alone. Two sources tell CNN the

Justice Department may bring federal charges this afternoon. CNN's Nick Watt has more from authorities.

They talked a lot about also messages that investigators were able to see

on Tyler Robinson's roommates' computer. Apparently the two had been

exchanging messages over a Discord server, and Robinson had been talking about the need to
