Utah Governor Spencer Cox opened the FBI's news conference in Orem by describing how Tyler Robinson was apprehended.

On the evening of September 11th, a family member of Tyler Robinson reached out to a family friend who contacted the

Washington County Sheriff's Office with information that Robinson had confessed to them or implied

that he had committed the incident.

He also said Robinson was wearing clothes consistent with those seen on surveillance video,

that he's believed to have acted alone, and that he was not a student at Utah Valley University.

A law enforcement official shared,

the suspect's father identified his son,

a 22-year-old from Washington, Utah,

from photos of the suspect that had been made public.
